How to Get Here
Karuna Dham is 13 km from Kodaikanal at 1,700 m, reached by an off-road drive through pear orchards and natural forest. A little effort is part of the experience.
There are no public roads leading all the way to Karuna Dham — we are through Forest Department land, and outside vehicles are not permitted past the bridge. Sat navs will get you lost. The nearest location you can safely use as a destination is Prakashapuram, approximately 4 km from us.

From Kodaikanal to Karuna — in three legs
Getting to Karuna is a small adventure in itself. Because of Forest Department rules, outside vehicles are not permitted past the bridge inside the forest land. So the journey happens in three short stages — and we handle the hand-off for you.
① Kodaikanal → the bridge
₹700 per jeep
A four-wheel-drive jeep picks you up in Kodaikanal town and brings you to the bridge in the forest. Call Sathish on +91 99523 79620 the evening before to arrange.
② The bridge → farm entrance
₹200 per jeep
Outside vehicles can't continue past the bridge — Forest Department rules are strict. Our own farm jeep meets you at the bridge and brings you the rest of the way to the farm entrance.
③ Farm entrance → your cottage
A short walk
From the farm entrance it's a short walk down to your cottage. Staff will meet you and help carry your luggage. Allow a little time for them to walk up and meet you.
Total: around ₹900 for transport from Kodaikanal to the farm entrance. Please have the exact amount ready if possible.
Returning to Kodaikanal
On the way out, the same three legs apply in reverse. We can help arrange both jeeps — just let us know the night before you leave.
Other ways
By public bus
A cheaper option. Buses to Prakashapuram cost ₹10–20. From there it's a walk through the forest — only recommended if you're travelling light. Contact us in advance so we can meet you at the bridge with the farm jeep.
By car
Do not drive all the way to Karuna. The Forest Department is strict about outside vehicles past the bridge, and penalties are serious. Park at Shaktivel's white house, just past Prakashapuram, and call us — we'll arrange the rest.

By Bus
The best option from Bangalore or Chennai is a sleeper bus — bookable via Redbus. Many coach services and local buses run to Kodaikanal; check with your local travel agent.
